Next time you go to work sick instead of staying home (either because you're secretly afraid the place will fall apart without you, or because you're secretly afraid it won't), think again. It'd probably be cheaper if you stayed home.

That's the conclusion of a recent study done at Cornell University. Workers who come in sick cost their employers an average of $255 each per year, according to Cornell University labor researchers.

Sick employees have difficulty concentrating, work more slowly and have to repeat tasks, bogging down productivity, according to the study.
